Obituary
BERNARDSTON - Elizabeth A. Shippa, 74, of Turners Falls Road, died Friday morning (9-20-13) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield.
She was born in Brewer, Maine, on March 22, 1939, the daughter of Herbert and Evelyn (Reed) Drinkwater.
She was married to Eugene Shippa on Feb. 16, 1960 in Brewer, while Mr. Shippa was stationed in the U.S. Air Force.
She worked as a medical secretary at what is now Eastern Maine Medical Center. They returned to Bernardston in 1966 and she spent many years working at Franklin County Technical School in the cafeteria.
She was a long-standing member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Greenfield.
She loved the ocean and returning to Maine to visit. She mostly cherished her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene of 53 years, and her daughter, Kathryn Page and her husband Dennis of Leyden, Mass., and her son, Steven and his wife Jody of Berryville, Va. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jason, Jeffery, Andrew and Eric Page, and Gregory, Lauren, Benjamin and Ashley Shippa, and her great-grandchildren: Adryanna, Camden and Brody Page. She is also survived by a brother, Russell Drinkwater and his wife Althea of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and sister: Jane Carter and her husband William of Lenoir, N.C.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard, and sister-in-law, Jeanne.
Funeral services will be Wednesday (9-25-13) at the Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker, Ave., Northfield, Mass., at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Bernardston, Mass.
There will be a calling hour on Wednesday morning from 10 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
