Poet's Estate -Gifts Left Drinkwater A Poor Man |
- Despite his fame and many works, Mr. john Drinkwater, the poet, left ?1,577 16s. 6d., but with net personalty nil. This was revealed in the details of his will just published.
Mr. Felix Aylmer, the actor, who was a very close friend of Mr. Drinkwater, told a reporter: "John Drinkwater was a very generous man, but he was not known as such publicly."
His secretary, Winifred Edith Gwyn Jeffreys, and his publisher,. Mr. Frank Sidgwick, were each left ?50, while the residue of his estate was left to his wife, Miss Daisy Kennedy, the violinist.
